Saul Hudson (A.K.A. Slash) was born July 23, 1965 in London and raised in Stoke on Trent, Stafford-Shire, England
Slash's mother Ola Hudson is African American and was a costume designer for many famous artist's such as David Bowie, John Lennon and Diana Ross.
Slash's father Anthony Hudson a Jewish Englishmen was and album cover designer for artists such as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.
At the age of 11 Slash and his mother moved from England to Los Angeles California and soon after his father joined them(Slash Remained an immigrant for a long time).At first slash had a rough transition into California, he was an outsider at school and didn't really fit in with the kids.
Slash lived a pretty unconventional lifestyle often surrounded by friends of the family who were also artistically gifted.
His house was constantly visited by famous artist such as David Geffen, Ron Wood and Iggy Pop.
Slash eventually got his nickname from family friend Seymour Cassel a famous Detroit born actor.
By the Mid 70's Slash's Parents separated forcing him to live with his grandmother until things settled at home.
Around this time Slash found interest in BMX riding. He went on to win seven awards and cash prizes in competitions.
Teen Years
At Age 15 Slash was given his first guitar by his grandmother and although it had only one string it was enough to learn to play.
All other interest froze once slash picked up that guitar.He would often go sit on the bleachers at school and play whenever he got the chance.
Slash would devote many hours just sitting and playing his guitar.
Slash accredits Aerosmith's album ROCKS for changing his life and giving him something to identify with.
Slash was doing poorly in school and by 11th grade decided to drop out to play music full-time.
Since Slash lived in Los Angeles He was around inspiring young artist like himself all the time.
wherever he could go to play his guitar was all Slash could think about.Slash played with multiple local bands but they were all short lived.
At this Time Slash met up with Steven Adler to form a Tribute band called Road Crew.
